Protects your pc from threats and harmful programs by scanning it and requesting access to delete toolbars, potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), adware, and browser hijackers. After cleaning the PC, your PC should run faster and smoother. It also acts as a live shield, blocking new programs that might be installed without your permission.
WiperSoft’s developers promise their product can free your system from various types of ill-intentioned software. One of the best advantages of this tool comes from its usability, because everything, from scanning to deleting menaces, is done in just a couple of steps. However, this extreme simplicity comes with a cost: the program does not have any of the advanced features you can find in similar software.
To find possible threats, you can click on the Scan button and wait until the results are ready. Unfortunately, unlike other tools, there are not various scan modes to choose from. As the scan happens, you receive information as to the current percentage of completion of the task together with the folder being scanned and a list of threats found up to the moment. Since this scan may take a while, it is good that the program can continue to work from the System Tray without affecting other computer tasks. Once the scan is finished, you may select specific threats and eliminate them.
The product can be particularly helpful when you are browsing the web because it can perform real-time scans to the contents you are downloading. Likewise, it can help you avoid intrusive software that may install on your computer without your consent, as it is the case of browser toolbars and extensions.
In terms of efficacy, which is in the end what really counts about this type of tool, there is no evidence that WiperSoft can detect a wider range of malware compared to other antivirus software. Similarly, it does not appear on the lists of the top anti-malware solutions.
All in all, WiperSoft can be best suited for inexperienced users who want to keep their computers secure from malware with a minimum effort. This is precisely its main downside. For example, you cannot change the scanning parameters to look for unwanted software at specific locations. The product is shareware and its trial version comes with a serious limitation: it cannot remove any malware whatsoever, which limits our ability to check its real efficacy.
